Motivational Stories
1. A Bucket Of Milk..
Once an epidemic spread in a king’s kingdom. People started dying everywhere. The king took many measures to stop it but there was no effect and people kept dying. The sad king started praying to God. Then suddenly there was a voice from the sky. A voice came from the sky that, O King, if one bucket of milk from every house of the kingdom is poured into the old dry well in the middle of your capital on the night of Amavasya, then the next morning this epidemic will end and people will die. It will stop. The king immediately announced throughout the kingdom that to avoid the epidemic, it was mandatory for every house to pour one bucket of milk into the well on the new moon night.
On the night of Amavasya when people had to pour milk in the well, a clever and miser old lady living in the state thought that all the people will pour milk in the well, if I alone pour a bucket of water then how will anyone know. With this thought in mind, that miserly old woman quietly poured a bucket of water into the well at night. When morning came the next day, people were still dying.
Friends, what happened in this story happens in our lives also. Whenever there is a task that has to be done by many people together, we often shy away from our responsibilities thinking that someone will definitely do it and because of this thinking of ours, the situations become the way they are. Lives. If we start doing our part without caring about others, then members of the entire country can bring about the change that we need today.
Nothing had changed because the pandemic had not ended. When the king went near the well and wanted to know the reason, he saw that the entire well was filled with water. There was not even a drop of milk there. The king understood that because of this the epidemic had not gone away and people were still dying. Actually, this happened because the same thought that came in the mind of that old woman came in the minds of the people of the entire state and no one poured milk in the well.
2. The Farmer & The God.
Once a farmer became very angry with God! Sometimes there may be a flood, sometimes there may be a drought, sometimes the sun may be very strong and sometimes there may be hailstorm. Every time, due to some reason or the other, his crop gets spoiled a little. One day he got very fed up and said to God, look Lord, you are God, but it seems that you do not have much knowledge about farming, I have a request that please give me a chance for one year, the weather should be as I want, then you see. How will I fill the grain stores! God smiled and said, okay, I will give you the weather as you say, I will not interfere!
The farmer sowed the wheat crop, when he wanted sunshine, he got it, when there was rain, and there was water! He did not allow strong sunlight, hail, flood, storm to come, with time the crop increased and the farmer also became happy, because such a crop had never happened till date. The farmer thought in his mind that now God will know how to harvest crops, we have been unnecessarily troubling the farmers for so many years.
The time for harvesting also came, the farmer went to harvest the crop with great pride, but as soon as he started harvesting, he suddenly sat down with his hands on his chest. There was no wheat inside even a single ear of wheat; all the ears were empty from inside, feeling very sad he said to God, Lord, what has happened?
Then God said, “This was bound to happen, you did not give the plants even the slightest chance to fight.” Neither did they allow them to bask in the scorching sun, nor did they let them struggle with the storm and hail, they were not allowed to feel any kind of challenge, that is why all the plants remained hollow, when there is a storm, heavy rains and hail fall, then the plants die. He remains standing only by strength, he struggles to save his existence and the force that arises from this struggle is what gives it strength, energy, and enhances its vitality. To become Kundan, gold also has to go through challenges like being heated in fire, beaten with a hammer, melted, only then it becomes golden. The aura emerges, making it precious!”
Similarly, in life also, if there is no struggle, no challenge, then the man remains hollow; no quality can develop in him. It is these challenges that sharpen the sword of man, make him strong and sharp, if we want to become talented then we will have to accept challenges, otherwise we will remain hollow. If you want to become strong and talented in life, then you will have to face struggles and challenges.
3. Etiquette.
Swami Vivekananda ji has said that most of the people in the world fail because they do not gather courage in time and they become afraid.
All the things said by Swamiji can be seen alive in the events of his life. An incident in Chicago brought alive the sentence written above, how he made India proud even in adverse circumstances. We feel very proud that we are residents of this country where we got the guidance of great saints like Vivekananda ji. Today I am telling you a small story related to the Chicago Religion Conference which points towards the etiquettes embedded in Indian culture.
In 1893, the World Religion Conference was going on in Chicago. Swami Vivekananda had also gone to speak there. Swamiji’s lecture was to be held on 11th September. It was written on the black board on the stage – Hindu religion – dead religion. Any ordinary person could have got angry after seeing this, but how could Swamiji do such a thing? He stood up to speak and first addressed the audience with the words (Sisters and Brothers of America). Swamiji’s words created a magic, the entire gathering welcomed him with thunderous applause.
The reason for this joy was to give first place to women. Swami ji welcomed everyone considering Vasudha as his family. No one had thought of this method of etiquette inherent in Indian culture. This had a good impact. The audience kept listening to him, mesmerized by the mantra, without even realizing when the stipulated 5 minutes had passed. Chairman Cardinal Gibbons requested to speak further. Swamiji continued speaking for more than 20 minutes.
Swamiji’s fame spread throughout America. Within no time thousands of people became his disciples. What’s more, whenever there was noise in the conference, the audience would be calmed down by saying that if they remained silent; they would be given the opportunity to listen to the lecture of Swami Vivekananda. On hearing this, the whole public would sit quietly. Through his lecture, Swamiji proved that Hindu religion is also superior, which has the ability to integrate all religions within itself. Indian culture does not contempt or condemns anyone. In this way Swami Vivekananda hoisted the flag of Indian culture across the seven seas.
4. Where is God?
A man went to his barber’s shop to get his hair cut as usual. While cutting hair, there was often talk about the country and the world… Even today they were talking about cinema, politics, sports, etc. when suddenly they started talking about the existence of God.
The barber said, “Look brother, I do not believe in the existence of God.”
“Why do you say that?”, the man asked.
“Hey, this is very easy to understand, just go to the street and you will understand that God does not exist. You tell me, if God existed, would so many people have fallen ill? Would so many children have been orphans? If there was a God then no one would have any pain or suffering”, the barber continued, “I cannot think of a God who would allow all these things to happen. You tell me where is God?”
The man stopped for a moment, thought about something, but remained silent so as not to escalate the argument.
The barber finished his work and the man, thinking something, came out of the shop and stood at some distance. , After waiting for some time, he saw a middle-aged man with a long beard and mustache coming in that direction. Looking at him, it seemed as if he had not bathed for many days.
The man immediately entered the barber’s shop and said, “You know there are no barbers in this world!”
“How come they are not?” , the barber asked, “I am right in front of you!! ,
“No” said the man, “They are not, otherwise no one has a long beard or moustache, but look how long that man in front of you has!”
“Oh no brother, there are barbers but not many people come to us.” the barber said
“Exactly right,” the man said, stopping the barber, “This is the thing, God also exists but people do not go to Him nor try to find Him that is why there is so much sorrow and pain in the world.”
